Live: Bomb-making material found outside Delhi Secretariat

According to latest news, the Delhi Police had found eight bags, which were packed with bomb-making material, outside Delhi Secretariat.

It is said that the patrolling team had found the bag which was full of iron pellets.

However, security in the national capital has already been tightened after the recover of an AK-56 assault rifle, three hand grenades, two magazines each carrying 30 rounds (cartridges), 220 gm explosives, a map of Delhi, dry fruits and a memory card during a raid from a guest house in Jama Masjid area in Old Delhi.

New Delhi has always been the main target of terror groups and the police has arrested a suspected Hizbul Mujahideen terrorist, who was planning to carry out a suicide attack, though two of his associates are still here.

The information was exposed after Delhi police questioned Sayyed Liyaqat Shah, who was arrested from Gorakhpur in Uttar Pradesh on March 20.

He was then brought to Delhi and presented before a city court and remanded for 15 days’ police custody.

Talking to media, Police official said, “The first man had booked room number 304 in the three-storey Hazi Arafat Guest House in Jama Masjid.”

Talking to media, the employee of the hotel said, “He was around five feet eight and was wearing a red cap and had a backpack. After a few hours, he met another man. The second man was in his room for some time and later both left around 8 pm.”

Employee said, “The police arrived here at around 11.30 pm and asked about the customers. All the customers were found in their rooms except for the one in 304.”

Further, Special Commissioner of Police (Special Cell) SN Srivastava said that the raiding team broke open the door in the presence of the manager.

He said, “During the search of the room, police recovered an AK-56 assault rifle, three hand grenades, two magazines each carrying 30 rounds (cartridges), 220 gm explosives, a map of Delhi and a memory card.”
