The Internal pains to losing a loved one in life can cause of weaken the immune system making the body more vulnerable to infections even can lead to the death, as per a study.
On basis of study found by Researchers from the University of Birmingham, large amount of depression and intense grief caused by interferes with a type of white blood cell called neutrophils.
With the passage of age period, adults lose the ability to produce another hormone that can act opposed the damage and situation goes more worse as difficult to bear the pain.
Therefore, Researchers believe that this could be the reason why couples who have been married for years die months, weeks or even days apart.
“There are a lot of anecdotes about couples who were married for 40 years when one of them passes away and then the other dies a few days later. It seems there is a biological basis for this,” a researcher Janet Lord quoted as reportedly saying.
Death is not because of a broken heart rather they are dying of a broken infected immune system. Even a person, who is healthy, is becoming very depressed due to having a bacterial infection on the immune system.
However the latest study resulted after examining the immune systems and hormone levels of 48 healthy adults aged 65 and over. Amongst them, half had suffered a major bereavement in the past 12 months. It was found that the ability of neutrophils to fight bacteria was much lower as compared to suffering bereavement.
