Godrej group chairman AdiGodrej and Shriram Group patriarch, Ramamurthy Thyagarajan, have been on Friday chosen for this year’s Padma Bhushan Award, one of the country’s highest civilian awards.
Three Padma Sri Award has been bagged by women power of Industry – Dalit entrepreneur Kalpana Saroj, VLCC Founder Vandana Luthra and chairperson of Rajshree Group Rajshree Pathy are the three businesswomen honoured by Padma Shri awards.
A pioneer in the Assam-based tea industry and industrial packaging business industrialist Hemendra Prasad Barooah and Dalit Indian Chamber of Commerce and Industry Chairman Milind Kamble have also been among the Padma Shri awardees .
As per reports, over all 4 Padma Vibhushan, 24 Padma Bhushan and 80 Padma Shri have been awarded to high ranked personalities. However among them all, Women members have got highest awards in number of 24.
This year no one has named for the highest civilian honour, Bharat Ratna Award.
Beside them, physicist and JawaharLal Nehru University’s ex-chancellor Professor Yash Pal , space scientist Roddam Narasimha, sculptor from OdishaRaghunathMohapatra and painter S HaiderRaza have been selected for this year’s Padma Vibhushan.
