Good News for Indian users, Advanced version of low cost , the world’s cheapest tablet Aakash has been launched by President Pranab Mukherjee today in New Delhi.
Being partnered HRD Ministry with Datawind, manufacture of Aakash, new version called ‘Aakash 2’is developed under the aegis of IIT Bombay with the active support of C-DAC ,available at the most cheapest price of Rs 1,130 for Indian students.
The first batch of one lakh devices will be offered engineering colleges and universities students.
Being powered by 1GHz Cortex A8 processor, Aakash 2 comes with 7-inch capacitive display with four multi-touch points with a resolution of 800×480 pixels. The device is running on Android 4.0 Ice-Cream Sandwich OS and sports a front-facing VGA camera with Wi-fi connectivity. As part of memory, new tablet has 512 MB RAM, internal memory of 4GB expandable up to 32GB using a micro SD card slot.
Aakash 2 is also supporting Linux operating system, do Aadhar authentication and control a robot from a distant place. Branded under UbiSlate 7Ci, the device will be offering across 22 crore students in the next five to six years, still government has ordered 20,000 devices which are available for purchase on DataWind’s website at Rs 3,500.
