In the break down of political culture, President Pratibha Patil is also never left space from this. The accommodation of land allotted to her for use to build “post-retirement” bungalow is being the fact of controversy as it reported that the land for the house was given is of improper allocation and in violation of rules.
On Friday, paying attention on strong public disapproval of improper allocation of defence land far in excess of what was sanctioned under rules; President Pratibha Patil said she would “forgo” this accommodation allotted to her for a home in Pune’s Khidki Cantonment.
The allegations has made by Suresh Patil, a retired lieutenant colonel and A Pune-based NGO Justice for Jawan of ex-servicemen, who said that Patil’s home was coming up on land that could have been given to war widows and ex-servicemen.
As per him, the government’s plan to allot the 2.6-lakh sqft plot and the house in Khadki cantonment of Pune with a plinth area of 4,500sqft is being built by downing two British-era bungalows
Denying the report of violation of rules in process of President’s planned retirement home; Rashtrapati Bhavan said that there had been no violation of rules in impropriety in the land allocation and the construction of the bungalow for months.
“Considering the fact that the issue has got linked with the issue of war widows’ accommodation… the President has chosen to forego the aforesaid allotment of accommodation proposed to be made to her as her post-retirement home in Pune,” Rashtrapati Bhavan statement said.
As per this, President has been over through these fallacious reports about the accommodation and as once the facts are made public, she will answerable to the Constitution of our country and the concerned people.
But the fact of being portrayed her as insensitive to the cause of war widows and ex-servicemen, the statement said, by accepting a defence accommodation for her post-retirement home, has pained a lot to President who has always been proud of the brave jawans.
