Aarushi murder case: SC dismissed Nupur Talwar’s plea

As per the latest reports, the Supreme Court has today dismissed a plea filed by dentist Nupur Talwar seeking bail and review of its order of allowing her criminal trial in the twin murder case, the so called Aarushi Hemraj Double Murder case.

It is said in reports, a bench of Justices AK Patnaik and JS Khehar in a short order said in the court that it finds “no merit” in the review petition.

Fire broke out at Finance Ministry office

According to the latest reports, a fire broke out at two rooms of the Finance Ministry’s North Block office at 3.45 am on Thursday.

Price increase in diesel, LPG immediately: Rangarajan

Avoiding impact of wide protest against hike fuel prices, Prime Minister’s Economic Advisory Council Chairman C Rangarajan demanded quick implementation of hike in prices of diesel and LPG cooking gas, in wake to cover all necessary fiscal deficit at 5.1 percent of the GDP during 2012-13.

Mandatory for government expenditures, Rangarajan said, “There is a need to raise the prices because the fiscal deficit can be contained only if we act on cutting subsidies and the most important element in subsidies is the petroleum subsidy. Therefore, there is a need for action with respect to the prices of diesel and LPG.”
