Mamata Banerjee nominee Mukul Roy as new Railway Minister

Tuesday will be swearing –in ceremony of Trinamool Congress nominee Mukul Roy as the next railways minister who will response to the rail budget debate in Parliament later this week.

After a move of party Chief Mamata Banerjee referenced Prime Minister Manmohan Singh to accept her application in favour of Roy, her first choice as the railways minister.

On Monday after a 20-minute meeting with Banerjee, Mr.Singh granted the approval of Roy as Railway Minister.

During discussion on the motion of thanks in Lok Sabha, PM announced his decision of Trivedi’s departure from the cabinet and said, “Trivedi presented a rail budget that had promised to carry out the Vision 2020 outlined by his predecessor (Banerjee).”

Rail unions urges PM Manmohan Singh, say don’t roll back

Railway Minster Dinesh Trivedi’s come back in Parliament gives a headache to Railway Union as afraid of roll back the proposed fare hikes recommendation in Rail Budget 2012-13.

Covering around 14 lakh railway employees, the Railway Union wrote a letter to Prime Minister Manmohan Singh to think about “industrial action” if the govt. is moved hikes fare back.

The five federations of railway unions, affiliated to Indian Trade Union Congress (INTUC) wrote, “We are expressing our deep sense of anguish for making the Railway Minister a scapegoat for… justified decision in the interest of the Railways and nation. Should our request fail to receive your sympathetic consideration, we would have no option except to resort to agitation.”

Mnamohan Singh holds meet to consider action on 2G verdict

In January 2012 Supreme Court scrapped 122 telecom licences issued in 2G scam 2008.

But Court’s order is dealing with quitting situation by foreign companies from India. Telnor and Bahrain Telecommunications Co (Batelco) has already sold its share and exit from market.

To reviewing the Court’s order, Prime Minister Manmohan Singh held a meeting with Finance Minister Pranab Mukherjee, Communications Minister Kapil Sibal and Attorney General GE Vahanvati on Saturday at his residence.

In this met, they together for defining ones opinions on the Supreme Court judgment under 2 G scam so that the government can find the forward actions and able to handle the future situation.

Talking to Media, Kapil Sibal said, “The purpose of this exercise was only to inform the prime minister and the group about the salient features of the judgment and its consequences and implications, and the basis on which the judgment has been rendered.”
