Live: 67 dead and over 700 injured in China earthquake

At least 67 people have been confirmed dead and 731 were reported injured after multiple earthquakes struck a mountainous region in southwest China Friday, authorities said early Saturday.

Two quakes measuring 5.7 and 5.6 on the Richter scale hit a border area near Yiliang in Yunnan and Weining county in Guizhou province at 11.19 a.m. and 12.16 p.m. Friday, respectively, Xinhua reported. Read more

That treated as a biggest breach of national security, damaging the reputation of a 1.3 million strong Indian Army.

Under the huge pressure from opposition members and former Army chiefs over embarrassment issues, the UPA government asked Defence Ministry to set IB for probe the matter, inquire into leakage of the Army Chief’s letter to the media along with the bribery allegations made by him. Read more

Yeshi was protesting against Chinese President Hu Jintao’s arrival for the BRICS Summit to New Delhi along with hundreds of Tibetans who were gathered outside Jantar Mantar, protesting in loud slogans of “Free Tibet”.

They demanded to draw Hu’s visit that seem to focus global attention on the Chinese government’s alleged oppression of Tibet anda gradual erosion of their culture. Read more
