At least 67 people have been confirmed dead and 731 were reported injured after multiple earthquakes struck a mountainous region in southwest China Friday, authorities said early Saturday.
Two quakes measuring 5.7 and 5.6 on the Richter scale hit a border area near Yiliang in Yunnan and Weining county in Guizhou province at 11.19 a.m. and 12.16 p.m. Friday, respectively, Xinhua reported. Read more

After the matter of offering a bribe of 14 crores to General VK Singh to sanction the purchase of “sub-standard” trucks, this leakage of official communication is the second major issue. That treated as a biggest breach of national security, damaging the reputation of a 1.3 million strong Indian Army.

Jamphel Yeshi, aged 27 a Tibetan exile who had sacrificed by burning himself on Monday in New Delhi died on Wednesday.
Yeshi was protesting against Chinese President Hu Jintao’s arrival for the BRICS Summit to New Delhi along with hundreds of Tibetans who were gathered outside Jantar Mantar, protesting in loud slogans of “Free Tibet”.
They demanded to draw Hu’s visit that seem to focus global attention on the Chinese government’s alleged oppression of Tibet anda gradual erosion of their culture. Read more
This year, the 4th BRICS Summit hosted by India with theme of ‘Partnership for Stability, Security and Growth’ that will held on Thursday.
Five powerful partners of BRICS – Brazil, Russia, India, China and South Africa – will arrive on Wednesday in New Delhi to attend summit, for a joint development bank in form of World Bank. The issue would be the structure of bank and capitalized.
