Rafael Nadal wins French Open title for a record 7th time

With amazing victory in world’s French Open tournament today, Spain’s Rafal Nadal defeated world number one Serbia’s Novak Djokovic 6-4, 6-3, 2-6, 7-5 and records his name with seventh French Open title.

Taking the Musketeers Cup under his arm with smiling face, Nadal told reporters, “For me it is a great honour.”

“This tournament is probably the most special in the world and having this trophy with me I am really emotional. It is probably one of the most special moments in my career,” he further added to express his joy as per source.

Nadal’s victory is the end of five-time major winner Serb’s dream of hitting the history of becoming the third man to win Grand Slams after his predecessor Don Budge and Rod Laver.

According to source reports, this tournament permitted him to go ahead from his six French Opens counterparts Bjorn Borg who took second on Monday.

However, the tournament was over at the third week of second chance because of suspension due to Sunday’s rain.

It was the Spanish world number two’s 11th Grand Slam title that come him close to the record of 16 held by Roger Federer.

“Congratulations to Rafa and his team for another title; he is a great player and I hope to come back next year and play even better,” Djokovic told reporters while asking about Nadal’s this winning record.
