As per the biggest breaking of the day, the Income Tax department raided liquor king Ponty Chadha’s major locations allover in Delhi and UP.
The matter came into light just before that crucial UP Assemble election, which is scheduled in the next week.
Meanwhile, it is said in reports that during the raid process the IT department had managed to size around jewellery worth Rs 4 crore and Rs 50 lakh.
Further, the news agencies have said that IP department has been doing their jobs in 17 different locations of Ponty Chadha.
Earlier, the IP officials started raids yesterday night, the final locker that was recovered y them in a Noida mall has been declared empty.
Now, the person, Ponty Chadha is one of the country’s biggest liquor tycoon and the only alcohol distributor in UP. In addition to this, two of his close associates, who are alleged hawala operators – Lalit Kapoor and Gurjeet Kocchar – have also been taken into custody.
It is also said in media that Ponty Chadha has very close relations with UP chief minister Mayawati.
Some reports have said that such raids may be targeted by the opposition party Congress, as to target Mayawati before the UP elections.
