Rajnath Singh set to replace Nitin Gadkari as BJP president

According to latest political news, the former BJP President Rajnath Singh is all set to replace Nitin Gadkari on Wednesday, as on Tuesday evening Nitin Gadkari announced that he will not file his nomination for the second time for the BJP President post.

On Wednesday morning, Rajnath Singh met senior BJP leaders LK Advani and Nitin Gadkari at their residences and then moved to BJP office for the parliamentary board.

Moreover, today is the last day of filing nominations for the BJP President post.

Sources said, Nitin Gadkari refuses to file his nomination for the BJP President for the second time, telling RSS leader Bhaiyaji Joshi that he favours the former party chief if there is no consensus on his name.

Earlier, senior leader LK Advani rejected the name of Rajnath Singh as the BJP President, but hectic meetings were held at New Delhi to look-out solutions. It is said in news, Leader of Opposition in Lok Sabha Sushma Swaraj and Rajya Sabha Leader of Opposition Arun Jaitley held talks with RSS leader Ram Lal.

Rajnath Singh will be new BJP President. But, earlier source said that BJP leader Yashwant Sinha only took the nomination papers, but was unlikely to contest.

On the other hand, on Tuesday, Nitin Gadkari in his written statement said to quit from the post of BJP President. He said, “I do not wish that this should in any way adversely affect the interest of the BJP.”

He added, “I have, therefore, decided not to seek a second term as the president of the BJP.”

Nitin Gadkari clarified his stand on the dubious funding of Purti Group, and said, “I have committed no wrong or any impropriety either directly or indirectly. I shall continue to serve my party as a committed worker. I have conveyed my decision to my colleagues.”
