According to latest news, the suspended BJP leader and Supreme Court lawyer Ram Jethmalani today once again said in media today lauded the newly elected BJP President Rajnath Singh for his “wisdom” and hoped that the new President would “cleanse” the organisation.
Talking to media, Jethmalani said, “In the present circumstances, he is a much better man. I hope (with) absolute wisdom and great statesmanship, he cleans BJP of the people who are inside BJP but are a threat to its continued existence.”
In the meantime, Rajnath Singh has been elected as the new BJP President unopposed on Wednesday after he filed his nomination for the post. This is the second time Rajnath Singh’s election as BJP President.
Earlier, Rajnath Singh lead BJP from 2006 to 2009, considered as the close candidate for the post after Nitin Gadkari refused to file his nomination for the post, facing allegations of dubious funding of his company, Purti Groups.
In October 2012, Raj Jethmalani, a Rajya Sabha MP, had openly said Nitin Gadkari should not seek a second term as BJP President as it would weaken the party’s position on the issue of the fight against corruption.
Thereafter, Jethmalani was suspended by the party in November 2012 due to indiscipline.
