At the UTV STARS Walk, the statue of late filmmaker Yash Chopra, also known as King of Romance, was unveiled on Monday and actress Rani Mukherjee became very emotional at the event.
Talking to reports, Rani was literally crying and said, “I would like to thank UTV for this. It’s a great moment for all the people who loved Yash uncle and the people who are associated with the family. We will all miss him.”
Meanwhile, Yash Chopra died on October last year due to dengue; he was 80-years of age.
Yash Chopra’s statue shows him with his trademark cap and camera. It was unveiled by Yash Chopra’s wife and son Uday Chopra.
Pamela Chopra said, “I want to thank UTV for this initiative because people forget… We all tend to do so. But with this statue, we will not forget him. I really like the statute, especially with this favorite cap and his camera.”
Yash Chopra was know for the making of some superhit films such as Dharamputra and Waqt and thriller Ittefaq and his last film as a director was ‘Jab Tak Hai Jaan’, with King Khan, Shahrukh Khan.
Talking about his romantic film, Yash ji directed films like sagas Daag, Kabhi Kabhie, Silsila and Chandni.
During the event, Uday said, “I have seen him live, so it’s a different feeling. And as rightly said, now his admirers can touch him and feel him.”
It is said that the statue will be put up at the UTV Star’s Walk of Stars at Bandra Promenade Feb 15 along with those of Raj Kapoor, Dev Anand and Shammi Kapoor whose memorable avatars in a statue form have already been installed for the fans.
Other celebrities present during the event from Bollywood were Shatrughan Sinha and his wife Poonam, Poonam Dhillon, Parineeti Chopra, and Prem Chopra.
