Another much shocking Delhi rape incident grimed the national capital in a shame, a 19-year-old woman was critically injured when a 25-year-old man allegedly inserted an iron rod into her mouth while attempting to rape her.
Police said that Anil Kumar, an electrician working with a local power distribution company tried to rape the woman when he found her alone at her house in Lajpat Nagar Monday.
The victim knew him as both are neighbors and the man had worked at her home in the past.
When the man who drank came at her home, had tried to force him on her and assaulted her, Police said the girl found an iron rod to hit him while screaming for help. The man shoved the rod down her throat to silence her before running away.
The electrician has been arrested on charge of rape, attempt to murder, while the girl is in Delhi’s AIIMS hospital where she fighting for her life.
“She sustained severe injuries in her mouth and the attempted strangulation had left bruises all around her neck”, Ajay Chaudhry, Additional Commissioner of Police, South East District, told reporters.
