As per latest news, Russian President Vladimir Putin arrived in India for a bilateral summit on Monday.
It is said in news that during Putin’s stay in India, major defence deals were expected to be inked.
As per the information revealed by the Indian Foreign Ministry officials, “Trade, investment and energy are also expected to be on the agenda along with the situation in Afghanistan.”
Further, talking to media, a diplomatic source said the defence deals alarm the supply to India of more than 40 Russian-made Sukhoi fighter jets and more than 50 helicopters, and this deal will cost around $7 billion.
Meanwhile, the Russian President will meet the Indian President Pranab Mukherjee, Prime Minister Manmohan Singh, Sonia Gandhi, chairman of India’s ruling United Progressive Alliance, and Sushma Swaraj, leader of the main opposition Bharatiya Janata Party.
