As per latest report, Bollywood hunk ‘Salman Khan’ could face 10 years jail term under the 2002 hit and run case.
Mumbai’s Magistrate’s court on Thursday has accepted the plea of the Maharashtra government and ruled that the actor will be tried for culpable homicide not amounting to murder in 2002 hit and run case, reports said.
As culpable homicide is a serious offence and for that Salman will be tried under section 304 (II) of Indian Penal Code and can face the maximum sentence of ten years.
The actor will have to produce before court on 11 February, facing new serious charges.
Media reports said that the verdict came on basis of evidence provided by police against Salman. The Magistrate now moves case to Sessions court for trial.
As per sources, Salman would challenge Magistrate court’s verdict to Bombay High Court.
Presently, Dabanng actor is being tried for rash driving and negligent driving under IPC section 304 (I) attract maximum punishment of two years.
In 2002, Salman’s SUV-Toyota Land Cruiser, allegedly being driven by him, had rammed into a bakery in suburban Bandra in Mumbai, killing one and injuring four others sleeping on the pavement.
