Sanjay Dutt to file review petition today-little chance to relief

Bollywood has come in support of its very popular actor known as Sanju Baba, Sanjay Dutt who has been sentenced five year jail term by Supreme Court on Thursday in the 1993 Mumbai serial blasts.

Upholding the conviction of the actor under the Arms Act for possession of arms in the 1993 serial blasts case, the court found the actor guilty but reduced his imprisonment three-and-a-half years as the actor has already spent 18 months in jail.

‘Munna Bhai’ hitmaker, Sanjay Dutt will have to surrender within four weeks, as per court’s order.

“I have already suffered for 20 years and been in jail for 18 months. If they want me to suffer more, I have to be strong. I am heart broken because today along with me, my three children and my wife and my family will undergo the punishment,” the actor told reporters.

Still the actor has more options to give himself up before he can think of using the remedies available to him, lawyers told reporters.

Meanwhile, Sanjay will have filed a review petition in the SC which will decide his fate. If the review petition is dismissed or rejected, a curative petition can also be filed.

However, if a curative petition does not work, then another hope can to move a mercy plea before the Governor or President, but that would depend on the recommendation of the State government.
