AK Antony 150x150 Soldier honoured who died in 1962 India China warToday, the country had completed the 50 years of its war with China and the country paid homage to the soldiers ho lost their lives in the 1962 India-China war.

This is the first time when Defence Minister AK Antony along with the top military official of India paid homage to those fighters who sacrifices their life int eh war.

Reports have said, AK Antony along with chiefs of three forces followed by Minister of State Pallamraju paid homage at the Amar Jawan Jyoti at India gate. Around 30,000 Indian army soldiers were killed in the 1962 India-China war.

Meanwhile, talking to media, AK Antony said, “We are sincerely trying to file peaceful solution to the long pending border issues through negotiations. The armed forces are much more in a strong process.”

Further, the Defence Minister ruled out any of such 1962 war with China in the near future. He said the present India is much stronger and we are capable of defending itself.

He said, “Infrastructure in the northeast is not up to our satisfaction but it has improved a lot as compared to the past… India of 2012 is not India of that period. We are now capable of defending every inch of our country.”

The Defence Minister was answering a question on India vis-a-vis China 50 years after the 1962 war in which India had suffered defeat. AK Antony said, “India had earlier not focused on enhancing infrastructure in northeastern states but now we have moved very fast. Now our infrastructure, assets and manpower have substantially improved compared to the past.”

He added that the country will continue building its infrastructure and will offer best arma and equipments to our Army.

He said India is in touch with China on the border issue and maintaining friendly ties with China.

He said, “On the one side, we are strengthening our capability in the border and on the other, we have established a border management mechanism with China that is now functioning satisfactorily.”
