Srinagar: Militants attacks CRPF camp, Hizbul Mujahideen takes responsibility

In yet tragedy, a fidayeen or suicide attack triggered on a paramilitary CRPF camp in Srinagar today, killing five jawans in the gunfight.

Two militants shot dead who entered the camp in the Bemina area dressed in white cricket uniforms, reports said, but injured several CRPF jawans admitted in hospital, reports said.

The gunfight was being continued for over half-an-hour during that a man was killed by CRPF jawans, succumbled with critical bullet injuries.

The militant group based on Kashmir, Hizbul Mujahideen has reportedly claimed responsibility for fidayeen, source said, warned to hit more such attacks.

It added, terrorists wearing the crocket uniforms, between age of 20–25 years as local youths playing cricket, entered the camp through the ground of the Police Public School. They had stored their weapons in the playing kits, unable to identify them.

Terrorists suddenly opened their jackets and drew weapons and grenades strapped their bodies, opened fire, then the CRPF jawans retaliated, police official said.

It is rarer attack since execution of Afzal Guru who belonged to Sopore in the Kashmir valley as the city tensed with several attacks and warnings over amid demand of returning of mortal remains of Guru .
