The Indian Premier League [IPL] 2012 has turned out to be good for many players, and Suresh Raina is also one of the players who had achieved a huge landmark in the IPL 2012.
The stylish batsman from the Chennai Super Kings Suresh Rains has became the first player ever to get 2000 runs in the IPL Twenty20 format.
The CSK player had made this possible after he played a superb 44 runs knock against the Kolkata Knight Riders in a match played at MA Chidambaram Stadium, Chepauk, Chennai 30 April 2012 – day/night (20-over match).
However, the Chennai Super Kings team had lost the match to Kolkata Knight Riders by 5 wickets.
Before the start of the play, Suresh Raina had 1865 runs under his belt from 64 matches with a fine average of 35.86.
The left-hander hit 44 runs from 39 balls with four fours and one huge six.
The CSK player, Suresh Raina, who top-scored for his team in the yesterday’s match, has been playing in the cash-rich Twenty20 league since its inaugural edition in 2008.
Earlier, CSK skipper MS Doni won the toss and elected to bat first. Raina was the top scorer for his team, with 34 runs support from MS Dhoni.
Kolkata Knight Riders skipper Gautam Gambhir pplayed superb 63 runs knock which helped KKR to win the match by 5 wickets.
