Ashis Nandy’s controversial remark in Jaipur Lit Fest on corruption links to caste took him into another threat as BSP chief Mayawati has strongly demanded his immediate arrest and take in jail.
In her demand, Ms. Mayawati said that Rajasthan government should immediately file a case under the SC/ST Act and other stringent sections and send Nandy to jail, otherwise ready to face anger of people in form of protest.
Nandy at a panel discussion in Jaipur Literature Fetsival has commented that people belonging to OBC, SC and ST communities were the “most corrupt”, angered the people of communities.
Although Nandy has apologized for his remark, but BSP party condemned it, calling his controversial remarks as “farthest from truth, condemnable, unfortunate and reflective of a casteist mindset”, reports said.
She also demanded to expel Nandy from JLF 2103 and asked organizers to do same.
However, Lokjanshakti Party President Ramvilas Paswan has also in support of Maywati and demanded immediate arrest of Nandy for his remark which reflected his ‘mental bankruptcy’.
