However, the SAD’s core committee is expected to meet today to hold further talks on the issue.

Talking to media, Parkash Singh Badal said, “My government has been taking advice from legal experts. All possible legal steps will be initiated pertaining to Rajoana’s case.”

Earlier on Friday, Akal Tahkt has asked CM and SGPC chief Avtar Singh Makkar to meet the President Pratibha Patil to save Balwan Singh, who is in jail in the killing of former Punjab chief minister Beant Singh. Read more

balwant singh rajoana 268x300 Balwant Singh Rajoana Case: SAD calls emergency meeting tomorrowIn yet another interesting move in the Balwant Singh Rajoana case, the SAD Chief Sukhbir Singh Badal has called an emergency meeting of the party’s core committee on Sunday morning.

It is said in reports that the meeting is called after huge Sikh protest in the state and asking the state Chief Minister Parkash Singh Badal and the SGPC head to meet the President Pratibha Patil as to cancel the hang till death sentence to Balwant Singh.

Talking to media, Shiromani Akali Dal (SAD) secretary Daljit Singh Cheema said that Chief Minister Parkash Singh Badal and SGPC chief Avtar Singh Makkar will also attend the meeting tomorrow.

Addressing to media, Mr. Cheema said, “The core committee would deliberate upon the directive of Jathedar, Akal Takht pertaining to the case of Rajoana, a convict in the former chief minister Beant Singh’s assassination.” Read more

Bhai Balwant Singh Rajoana 252x300 Balwant Singh Rajoana Case: Makkar to meet President to save Balwant SinghIn the latest twist in the Balwant Singh Rajoana case, the five Sikh high priests has announced that the Chief Minister of the state Parkash Singh Badal, SAD President and Badal’s son Sukhbir Singh Badal and Shiromani Gurdwara Parbandhak Committee (SGPC) chief Avtar Singh Makkar to quickly meet the President of India, Pratibha Patil.

The decision to immediately meet the President was taken as to take required steps by the state as well as central governments to make sure the ‘unconditional release’ of Babbar Khalsa International terrorist Balwant Singh Rajoana.

Meanwhile, Balwant Singh, who is found guilty for the killing of former Punjab Chief Minister Beant Singh and 17 others, has been sentenced to be hanged till death on March 31 by a Chandigarh Court. Read more

Balwant Singh Rojana 300x280 Balwant Singh Rajoana hanging: High Court dismisses plea on stayAccording to latest reports on the public interest litigation, looking forward for stay on the execution of Balwant Singh Rajoana, found guilty for killing former Punjab chief minister Beant Singh and 17 others, was rejected on Thursday by the Punjab and Haryana high court.

A division bench headed by Justice Hemant Gupta has dismissed the petition and the report said, “The argument raised in PIL is that till such time the matter attains finality with the orders of the Supreme Court, the execution of death sentence in respect of Balwant Singh should be stayed, as there is a possibility of setting aside the order passed by this court confirming the death sentence… We do not find any merit in the present petition.” Read more
