Diesel, LPG price to go up
Indian government must raise prices of fuels such as diesel, Kerosene and LPG in a phased manner, as per Prime Minister Manmohan Singh.
The hike would be by Rs 2 to 3 per litre on diesel and LPG by Rs 50 to Rs 75, media reports said.
It further added that government’s move to hike fuel prices will be in line with the Kelkar committee recommendation.
Currently, price of diesel in Delhi costs Rs 47.15 per litre that was last revised on September 14.
While, there has no change in Kerosene prices since June 2011 which at present costs Rs 14.79 per litre in Delhi.
In a statement Mr. Singh said that there was need to supply energy at affordable prices in India. To reduce the dependency on imports for its crude oil requirements with rapid growth, the prices of fuels and energy must undertake a phased rationalisation (rpt) to bring them in line with world prices.
