bcci award 2011 300x243 Cricketer Rahul Dravid, Ajit Wadekar bags top BCCI awardsAccording to latest sports news, the great wall of the Indian cricket team Rahul Dravid and former captain Ajit Wadekar were on Saturday honoured with the Indian Cricket Board’s (BCCI) top awards, the Polly Umrigar Award and the CK Nayudu Lifetime Achievement Award.

Cricketer Rahul Dravid, who made 1,285 runs from 15 Tests at an average of close to 53, including 6 hundreds, while playing for the country. The cricketer completed this mark of runs during the period October 2010 to September 2011.

Talking to media in a video message, Dravid said, “I think a lot of my good performance is down to the hard work I put in. I think it has all paid off this year.”

Rahul Dravid, who was wearing a simple white T-shirt in his video message, termed the period, during which he scored six tons, as “mixed”.

Rahul said, “It was a mixed year, with the disappointment in South Africa and then the (stellar) series against England and the West Indies. But it is an honour to be recognised by your own board for being the best player of the year.” Read more

Once again Sehwag created history in the cricket by scoring the highest ever individual scores in ODIs. Earlier, Master blaster Sachin Tendulkar holds this record, he scored 200 runs against South Africa in Gwalior on February 24, 2010.

Indian scored 418 runs in their 50 over play with the loss of 3 wickets. Opener Gautam Gambhir also played superbly today and got his first half century of the series. He got run out on an individual score of 67 runs.

Thereafter, Suresh Raina came to bat with Sehwag, he also got his fifty and he was also runs out on 55 runs made from 44 balls with the help of 6 fours.

Talking to media after winning the match, Ravi Rampaul said, “I would say it was about getting early breakthroughs.”

The Indian cricket team must be looking forward to register their second successive series win at home today.

The touring team, West Indies, will also try their level best to make a come back in the series by winning today’s match. However, India would like to repeat the same story which they did against the World champions Australia in 2007 here.
