As per the top stories, the CBI carried out raids at 3 places in Noida and Delhi in connection with its probe into alleged irregularities in the procurement and supply of the Tatra trucks to the Indian Army.

It is reported that three teams of CBI has arrived at the retired official of Indian Army and an official of Vectra today morning and took away some important documents and other required things.

The statement was given to media by an official from CBI.

Further, the intelligence agency has also called BEML Chairman V.R.S. Natarajan and Vectra Chairman Ravinder Rishi for some enquiry today morning.

In the meantime, CBI has registered a case including names of Ravi Rishi and unnamed defence ministry officials, Indian Army officials and BEML officials on 30 March 2012 for alleged criminal conspiracy, cheating and also under relevant sections of the Prevention of Corruption Act.

CBI is investigating any misleading in assigning of supply from Czechoslovakia-based Tatra, the agreement was originally inked with this company in 1986.

Talking to media about the case, an official said, “The Tatra-Sipox U.K., owned by Mr. Rishi, in 1997 showing it as an original equipment manufacturer and the fully-owned subsidiary of Czech company, which was against the provisions of Defence Procurement Procedure.”

Moreover, the CBI official said, “In continuation of the aforesaid conspiracy to cause undue benefit to the U.K.-based company, the unknown officials of the Defence PSU allowed change of currency from U.S. Dollar to Euro and further by not levying the Liquidated damages, thereby causing further loss of Rs. 13.27 crores.”
