Al-Qaeda in Arabian Peninsula’s fresh statement over more attacks on US diplomats in Muslim countries across the world threatened the Western authorities as orders are followed to pull non-essential embassy staff out of Sudan and Tunisia.
The major reason of Washington’s order to ask non-embassies to leave off the assaulted areas is of refusal by Gulf nations over US request to send 50 marines and Special Forces to protect their embassies in the wake of violent anti –Islamic protests over a film.
Amid controversial anti-Islamic film “Innocence of Muslims” claiming to insulting Prophet Mohammad fired the attacks on US embassies, killing several Americans. And AQAP’s statement added it more, turning situation critical, raising threat on Americans.
However, US department already has deployed its Marine units with grenades and missiles to Libya and Yemen, but Sudanese Foreign Minister, Ali Karti, rejected its request for the Khartoum embassy protection.
The Sudan Govt. said to protect itself US embassies by both publicly and privately as it is obligated to do under the Vienna Convention.
“We have requested additional security precautions as a result of … damage to our embassy,” State Department spokesperson Victoria Nuland told reporters, adding that they are active with the situation and “continuing to monitor the situation closely to ensure we have what we need to protect our people and facility.”
Meanwhile, for safety of Americans, the US State Department has issued fresh travel orders to Americans non-emergency personnel and relatives, staying in US missions in Khartoum, Sudan, and Tunis, Tunisia to travel off from these countries.
