The breaking news of the day states that the former Chief Minister of Haryana and Indian National Lok Dal chief Om Prakash Chautala, his MLA son Ajay Chautala, and 53 others for illegally recruiting more than 3,000 junior teachers in 2000.
It is said in news that all the accused were sent to jail soon after the verdict and special CBI judge Vinod Kumar sent Om Prakash Chautala including 54 others to Tihar jail.
News said that charges of cheating, forgery and criminal conspiracy against the former Haryana Chief Minister can make a seven year jail term.
Meanwhile, the next hearing of the court will hear the arguments on the quantum of sentence on January 17, 19 and 21 before pronouncing the punishment on January 22.
It is said that two years or more jail term would be announced for Om Prakash Chautala and his son because of ineligible for elections under the Representation of People Act that disqualifies a convicted person from the date of conviction till six years after the sentence ends.
However, Om Prakash Chautala and his son will keep working as MLAs till the disposal of their appeal.
Om Prakash Chautala has been named as the main accused in the job scam and he now joins the league of former BJP president Bangaru Laxman and former Himachal Pradesh CM Sukhram, who were earlier convicted of corruption.
On the other hand, 16 of the 55 convicts are women, six of the 62 accused died during the trial.
One was discharged by the court at the time of framing charges.
