Seeming, bad days came in life of godman Nirmal Baba who cheated lakhs of people through his improbable solutions, fooling by creating fear of religion and in return took a big amount of money for shake of god.

Recently the Chief Judicial Magistrate (CJM) Rajesh Upadhyaya of local court ordered Luknow police to file FIR against Delhi-based self proclaimed the Nirmal Baba alias Nirmaljeet Singh Nerula for allegedly fraud and cheating people.

Observing, Nirmal Baba’s act is against scientific temper and rationality, the court said, “Not only this, his acts amount to misuse of religion and spirituality. Inviting to deposit money directly in the account in order to solve problems of people is in fact amount to fraud with the society and it should be investigated. Baba’s act has also influenced people of Lucknow, hence it is necessary the matter should be probed.”

The order of strict investigation over this matter brought while two teenagers — Tanya Thakur (16) and Aditya Thakur (13) had filled complaint in the Gomtinagar police station.

After accepting the complaint, the CJM directed Gomitnagar police to lodge a case, probe the matter and submit the report in the court.

Citing the teenagers’ complaint filed under a 1999 Supreme Court ruling, treating a cognisable offence, the CJM further said if a person presents himself as godman capable of treating the disease by his super natural power and takes money for it, the action will fall under the category of fraud.

Tanya Thakur and her brother Aditya are the children of IPS officer Amitabh and social activist Nutan Thakur. While they went to Gomtinagar for register FIR against Nirmal Baba on April 10, 2012, the police refused to so same.

After that they with their mother approached the ACJM, who had reserved his order after a hearing on April 30.

The complaint filed under Sections of Cheating and cheating by personation, punishment for cheating and by personation, and act caused by inducing people to believe that he/she will be rendered an object of divine displeasure of the IPC.

In their application, source said, they mentioned that Nirmal Baba holds ‘durbar’ in big cities and metros. They said, his programmes are also aired on different TV channels. They also watch it and came to the conclusion that Nirmal Baba is cheating ordinary and poor people facing various problems in life.

Recently, Authorities at the temple blamed Nirmal Baba for the decrease in collections at the famous Shiv temple at Deoghar as used to suggest people that they donate Rs 500 notes to temples and ‘Kripa’ will shower on them.

The collections in comparison of last month of Rs 11.5 lakh was Rs 7.5 lakh in the month of April.
