Delhi Sikh Gurudwara Prabandhak Committee (DSGPC) had made a demand for setting up separately a Sikh marriage Act which would be implemented very soon by the government, reported by DSGPC on Friday.
DSGPC’s President Paramjeet Singh Sarna revealed a report that an assurance to this effect was given by Law Minister Salman Khurshid to a DSGPC delegation which met him recently.
He said, “This has been a long pending demand and we thank the government for keeping its promise. We have learnt that after being cleared by nine ministries there is no impediment now in the implementation of the Anand Marriage Act.”
However the DSGPC would also provide free medical insurance to Sikh families who live below the poverty line all across Delhi and the number of people all around is 20-25000 who would benefit from this scheme.
DSGPC also gave support and was for the inclusion of religious institutions under the Lokpal.
This has been informed in a statement, the President stated, “We support the inclusion of religious institutions under Lokpal so that there is greater transparency.”
