Former athlete Pinki Pramanik is male, charged with rape

‘Pinki Pramanik is a male’, it has confirmed in medical report submitted by the police on Monday in a West Bengal Court, proceeding the charges of raping a 32-year old woman against Asian Games gold medal winner Pinki Pramanik.

Pinki who is currently on bail, has accused and is facing a chargesheet filed by police on basis of the medical test which has done by a board of seven doctors at the state-run SSKM hospital in Kolkata to determine Pinki’s gender.

Police has filed chargesheet with charges of rape, cheating and holding out threats.

“The medical board that examined Pinki Pramanik declared Pramanik as male having the ability to rape. Accordingly the police have also filed the chargesheet,” the additional public prosecutor of Barasat Judge Court told reporters.

The former athlete, who won several important medals for India in women’s events, was accused in June by her live-in partner Anamika Acharya of being a male, raped her and took her properties.

After that Pinki was spent 25 days in jail and free on bail with order of medical examination to determine her gender.
