As per the latest political news, the Gujarat Chief Minister Narendra Modi on Friday met senior BJP leader L K Advani here on concerns with growing dissension in the party over the issue of leadership.
Meanwhile, the met of two senior leaders came after a week when L K Advani left the BJP’s national executive mid-way following arrival of Narendra Modi amid orchestrated chants of Dekho dekho kaun aya, Gujarat ka sher aya (look who has come, it’s the Lion of Gujarat)’ in Mumbai.
In addition, some leading party members also missed the BJP public meeting next day. L K Advani is not happy with Gujarat Chief Minister since 2011 when the latter chose to unveil Rathyatra to call fight against corruption from Bihar even as the senior BJP leader had suggested him to start it from Gujarat, preferably from Porbandar or Karamsad.
The differences between Advani and Modi have been boosted with Modi being presented as a prime ministerial candidate for 2014 general elections by a section of party leaders and workers.
By the way, the fresh issue of BJP’s mouth piece Kamal Sandesh too has made a veiled attack on Gujarat Chief Minister Modi, showing his disappointment over the so called leadership tussle as well as sharp divisions in some of the state units of the BJP party.
In an interview, the party’s spokesperson referred to the fresh developments in BJP-lead states like Karnataka and Gujarat besides Rajasthan, where the party is the main opposition.
Talking to meida, Kamal Sandesh said, “Some of the happenings in Karnataka, Gujarat and Rajasthan have deeply hurt the sentiments of the common people. The BJP karyakartas (workers) and its staunch supporters also felt the pain.”
However, the press release said well about senior BJP leaders like Atal Bihari Vajpayee, Advani and Murli Manohar Joshi for establishing the party and not clamouring for posts.
For the meantime, Narendra Modi also called on ailing senior BJP leader Atal Bihari Vajpayee here at his residence and took his blessings before leaving for Gujarat.
