An official said that the Congress party President Sonia Gandhi will address an election rally in Mandi today in Himachal Pradesh.
Sonia Gandhi will kick start the Himachal poll campaign with her rally today. Talking to media, party official said, “Sonia Gandhi will address her first election rally in Mandi. One more rally has been planned after this one.”
It is said that ex-Union minister and Congress leader Sukh Ram belong to the Mandi region and he commands good control in the area.
In addition, the Prime Minister Manmohan Singh will address the party rally in Una town on October 28 and then general secretary Rahul Gandhi will come to the state to hold series of rally.
In the meantime, the ruling party of the state, Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) has also invited its top leaders to address rallies in Himachal Pradesh.
Talking to media, BJP national general secretary JP Nadda said, “Our leaders LK Advani, Arun Jaitley and Nitin Gadkari would address poll rallies this week.”
It is said that Gujarat Chief Minister Nrendra Modi will also come to address rally for Himachal polls.
Highly structured security arrangements have been made during the visit of the national leaders.
Officials said that around 4.59 million voters will cast their ballots November 4 at 7,253 polling stations across Himachal Pradesh. The votes will be counted December 20, after the Gujarat assembly polls are over.
