The Indian cricket team was short of luck, that’s all we can say, India won the thriller match against South Africa but it is unfortunate that they are no more in the ICC World Twenty20 race.
India beats England and Pakistan and yesterday beats South Africa by one run, but that was not enough as Pakistan recorded a big win over Australia in the first half of the day.
Earlier, South Africa captain won the toss and elected to field first, India managed 152 runs in 20-overs. Suresh Raina and MS Dhoni 45 and 23 runs respectively.
Batting second, South Africa lost opener Amal on the 2nd ball of the match to Zaheer Khan and Sehwag take superb catch in the slip. But, Faf du Plessis soon destroyed India’s dream to make their way into semis, he played 65 runs knock from just 38 balls with two huge sixes and 6 fours.
Medium pacer Zaheer Khan and L Balaji shared 6 wickets, taking three each.
Earlier, Pakistan played against Australia on the same ground with spinners but MS Dhoni played without Harbhajan Singh.
However, Yuvraj Singh took two wickets for 23 runs in 4 overs. He was named as the Man-Of-The-Match.
Talking to media, Indian captain MS Dhoni said, “If you take the Australia game out, where the rain intervened, we performed brilliantly and can’t have control over how other teams played.”
He added, “Overall I’m quite happy with how the team performed. There were instances where we should have had 10-15 runs more on the board. We lost too many wickets early.”
South African captain AB de Villiers said, “Disappointed isn’t the word to describe it, we’ve had a poor tournament.”
He said, “We’ve let the country down and that’s what hurts most. We did all the preparation possible, we though we were ready but the guys didn’t click.”
