Indian car sales up 7.19%, two-wheelers sales rise 13.6% in Jan 2012

The latest reports of Business states that the Passenger car sales in the domestic market of the country has been increased by 7.19 per cent to 1,96,013 units in first months of this year as compared to 1,82,852 units in the same period of the last year.

As per the figures issued by the Society of Indian Automobile Manufacturers (SIAM), the two-wheelers [motorcycle] sales in the month of January has reported a growth of around 10.51 per cent to 8,25,887 units from 7,47,309 units in the same month of 2011.

Meanwhile, the two-wheeler sales in the first month of this year grew 13.62 per cent to 11,13,831 units as compared to the 9,80,243 units in the same period of the year 2011.

Total sales of commercial vehicles jumped by 13.52 per cent to 69,859 units from 61,537 units in the year-ago period, SIAM said.

In addition, the total sale of vehicles crosswise categories reported a marginal growth of 12.17 per cent to 14,81,435 units in the first month of this year as compared to the 13,20,644 units in the same month of the last year.
