JBT scam: Om Prakash Chautala, son gets 10 years in jail

According to latest political news, the former Haryana Chief Minister Om Prakash Chautala and his son Ajay Chautala has been today sentenced to 10-years in jail in the much talked teachers’ recruitment scam.

The JBT scam verdict was announced on Tuesday and soon after the sentence, protesters threw stones and crude bombs into the court complex.

It is said in news that protesters even clashed with the police and raised alogans.

Besides, , the court gave 10-years in jail to two IAS officers and four teachers in the same case.

Earlier, huge number of supporters were gathered outside the court complex and clashed with the police and tried to enter the court complex. The local police has used batons and teargas to control the supporters.

It is said that the security had already been tightened in and around the court complex.

Talking to media, Police official said, “We had to use water canons, tear gas and lathicharge, as the supporters tried to break the police barricade outside the court around 9.20 am.”

However, on January 16, the court had held the former Haryana chief minister Om Prakash Chautala (78-years), his son Ajay Chautala and 53 others guilty of illegally recruiting 3,206 junior basic trained (JBT) teachers in the state in 2000.

Om Prakash Chautala and his son Ajay Chautala and 53 other accused have been held guilty of cheating, forgery, using fake documents as genuine, conspiracy under the IPC and for abusing their official position under the Prevention of Corruption Act.
