Lawyers refuse to defend gang-rape accused

Lawyers has refused the nation on Wednesday by announcing that they will not defend the men involved in the Delhi gang rape case of taking part in the assault and murder.

It is said that during the hearing on Tuesday at the Saket district court in New Delhi, and the Delhi police has presented a 1000 page charge sheet against six accused in the rape case.

Talking to media, Sanjay Kumar, a lawyer and a member of the Saket District Bar Council, said, “We have decided that no lawyer will stand up to defend the rape accused as it would be immoral to defend the case.”

Further, Mr. Kumar said that around 2500 lawyers registered at the court have decided to ‘stay away’ to make sure ‘quick justice’ and this means that government would have to appoint lawyers for the accused.

Meanwhile, around five men are expected to face charges in the case including rape, murder and kidnapping of the 23-years-old girl.

And, the sixth accused is 17-years-old and he would be tried in a juveniles’ court.

The brutal gang rape occurred in national capital in a moving bus and the Delhi gang rape victim died after 13-days due to several internal injuries.
