The latest reports have said that auto leader Mahindra & Mahindra has recently announced that the company will resume bookings of its latest sports utility vehicle XUV500 from January 2012.
Earlier, the auto major firm had stopped taking new orders from customers since October 2011 after the company reported over 8,000 bookings of the vehicle within just 10 days of release.
While talking to media, an official from the company said that the company is on a move of ramping up the production of the SUV, though no more information was released by the official as “it would reopen bookings of its XUV500 in January 2012″.
The note issued by the company said, “The production for the XUV500 is as per schedule and the company is also in the process of ramping up production at its plant in Chakan, which will enable it to reopen bookings next month.”
In addition, the auto major company of India stated that it had sold out four months’ production of the XUV500 and expects to complete the deliveries by January 2012.
M&M had introduced the SUV on September 29 with the price tags between Rs 10.8 lakh and Rs 11.95 lakh (ex-showroom, Delhi). The bookings began on October 1.
The new SUV, which was designed and developed by the company’s Chennai-based research team, has also been rolled-out in South Africa.
Loaded with a 2.2-litre diesel engine, the XUV500 has a six-speed transmission and is also available in a four-wheel drive variant.
