No threat to Shettar Govt: Karnataka Governor

Amid BJP Karnataka political crisis, Karnataka Governor HR Bhardwaj, taking side turn, has announced that CM Jagdish Shettar government is not in minority, no threat or danger.

For now, Shettar would not have need for “a confidence vote” in assembly, he said, adding that Thirteen MLAs resigning does not pose a threat to the government, reports said.

Mr. Bhardwaj also confronted that he would summon CM if state government came in minority, for now there was no threat to it.

Just a day ahead after accepting resignations of two MLAs, Governor had said that he might ask Shettar to prove his govt majority.

“I have explained to the governor when he asked me about the 13 MLAs resigning that we still have absolute majority in the house,” Shettar told reporters, yesterday.

Public Works CM Udasi and Minister for Energy Shobha Karandlaje have quitted Shettar government, expected to join the new Karnataka Janata Party launched by BS Yeddyurappa, who walked out from BJP in December after being part of it for 40 years.

There are 11 more MLAs, loyalist of Yeddyruppa who want to quit membership and have in queue to submit resignation.

A joint session will have been called to address by Shettar on February 4  on which state govt majority will be decided as if a total of 18 legislators resign, the government will be in a minority.
