The breaking news, Parliamentary Standing Committee on Defence has summoned three armed service Chiefs today.

This action against them is to clarify their points over the controversial move of lack of defence preparedness communicated by Army top official Chief Gen. V K Singh in his leaked letter to Prime Minister Manmohan Singh.

The notice has been issued to all of three to present before Committee with their clear standing views on April 20.

This is of the second time that the committee summoned three Chiefs. Last year Public Accounts Committee had issued notice to three Chiefs regarding connection in the CAG’s report on the Canteen Stores Department (CSD).

However decision has been taken by Committee, while a long hearing on Monday had made over the testimony from the Armed Vice-Chiefs with their power forces before it.

According to source report, Defence Ministry officials, the Defence Research and Development Organisation and public-sector defence organizations were also asked to testify to the move.

Army vice-chief confined, while war-fighting stocks must last 40 days, in special tank ammunition areas such as Armour Piercing Fin-Stabilized Discarding Sabot, stocks are down to four days.

He further added that it did not mean that tanks would run dry.
