Prime Minister dismisses army movement as alarmist

A media report that thunderstruck the government has dismissed today by Prime Minister Manmohan Singh as saying it should not be taken at face value.

As per media report that stand a report came after investigation over six weeks, two units of Army being a “curious” movement towards Delhi in mid-January without notifying government.

Mr. Singh, attending the Padma Awards function at Rashtrapati Bhawan in New Delhi said, the newspaper that publishes false report has clarified by Defence Ministery its position on the issue.

The Army Chief’s office is an exalted office and nothing should be done to lower its dignity and respect in the public, he further added.

Asking about report, the Defence Minister, Mr. A.K. Antony called it “rubbish” and falseness. He claimed someone doubting the patriotism, honesty and integrity of the armed forces.

Main motive of govt. is to define that there is no gap in Defence Ministry and Indian forces. A K Antony, being proud of Army, said that they will not do anything to undermine patriotism. The movement of the forces on the said day was a routine and natural activity.

Though Defence Minister described to enjoy the cordial and faithful relationship with the Service Chiefs, but because of yesterday media report several questions are arise in mind of public as well as media that why still any defensive notice has not released, why the troops were suddenly asked to go back and what explanation was offered, if any, by the army to the Government.
