Shiromani Akali Dal leader Ranjit Singh Rana has been arrested by Punjab police on the murder of an Assistant Sub Inspector Ravinderpal Singh in Amritsar who had protested the harassment of his daughter allegedly by Rana and his aides.
Around 1,000 police personnel, including 50 SHOs and 30 other officers from different districts were instructed to track down.
Finallly, Police have arrested Rana along with his two aides- Prabhjit Singh and Dharam Singh from Rajoke village in Tarn Taran district, reports said.
ASI Ravinderpal Singh was shot dead by Rana and his three aides at Chheharta in Amritsar on December 5.
The .315 pistol, 12-bore double-barrel gun and live ammunition have recovered with which Rana shot ASI officer, as per reports. Still, Sandeep Singh alias Sunny and Gurbir Singh alias Bira- Rana’s aides are still absconding.
Eyewash, Ashwani Kumar, SHO of the Chheharta station was already suspended from his post not responding call of the victim for help, having involved in murder case.
Another name of Paramraj Singh Umranangal, DIG (Border Range) have in air who also suspended yesterday for not performing his duties efficiently.
Moreover, a judicial probe would be called for incident and all accused have remained in police custody till Dec 10.
