Punjab: FIR registered against Sarpanch who slapped woman

As per the fresh news from Punjab, an FIR has been launched against the Shiromani Akaali Dal Sarpanch who slapped a woman teacher.

Meanwhile, the teacher was demanding for a permanent job during a function in Muktsar district in Punjab.

The whole incident took place when a lady teacher, Varinder Kaur, wanted to meet Bhatinda MP Harsimrat Kaur Badal, the wife of Deputy Chief Minister Sukhbir Singh Badal at the function on Monday. The lady teacher is a member of teacher delegation.

A brawl broke out between the teachers’ delegation and Akali Dal workers who were forcing the teachers group to leave the place.

At the same time, Balwinder Singh, Akali Dal Sarpanch of Daula village, caught hold of Varinder Kaur and slapped her 4-5 times, Education Guarantee Scheme (EGS) Teachers Association President Pritpal Singh said.

However, the lady teacher said to media, “Balwinder Singh manhandled me and beat me up”. She said that EGS Jalandhar unit head Jarnail Singh was also slapped and picked up by police.

In the meantime, Police officials told media that a case has been registered against members of both the parties.
