According to latest political news from Punjab, a senior Indian Police Service (IPS) officer of the Punjab Police was suspended on Saturday, around three days after the killing of Punjab Police Assistant Sub Inspector [ASI] Ravinderpal Singh in Amritsar.
It is said that ASI Ravinderpal Singh had resisted the harassment of his daughter allegedly by a ruling Akali Dal leader and his aides.
Talking to media, an official said in a statement that Paramraj Singh Umranangal, DIG (Border Range), was put under suspension for not performing his duties efficiently.
The release said, “He has created indiscipline in the Border Range”
The official said, “His headquarters during the period of suspension would be in the office of DGP, Punjab.”
However, no additional information was been provided to media in connection with the suspension of the DIG.
Earlier on December 5, ASI Ravinderpal Singh was shot dead allegedly by SAD local secretary (Urban) Ranjit Singh Rana and three of his associates.
In connection to this, a local SHO has already been dismissed with ASI Ravinderpal Singh’s killing.
