According to latest political news from Punjab, a senior Indian Police Service (IPS) officer of the Punjab Police was suspended on Saturday, around three days after the killing of Punjab Police Assistant Sub Inspector [ASI] Ravinderpal Singh in Amritsar.
It is said that ASI Ravinderpal Singh had resisted the harassment of his daughter allegedly by a ruling Akali Dal leader and his aides. Read more
Fresh reports have said that the British police have arrested all the four accused, including a woman, who attacked on Lt Gen (retd) Kuldeep Singh Brar, he led the Operation Bluestar in 1984.
Talking to media, an official from Metropolitan Police Service said, “Officers from the MPS have arrested three men and one woman on suspicion of conspiracy to murder in connection with the investigation into the attempted murder of an Indian man (Brar) in central London on September 30.” Read more
The recent attack incident on Lt Gen (retd) KS Brar has once again started debate on Punjab government’s move to built a memorial dedicated to militants killed during the Operation Bluestar in Amritsar’s Golden Temple in 1984.
However, the construction work at the memorial hall is going on full swing but the Sikh community is divided into two groups. The ruling party in Punjab Shiromani Akali Dal (B) is in support of the memorial hall but the state Congress is opposed to it. Read more
