According to latest political news from Punjab, a senior Indian Police Service (IPS) officer of the Punjab Police was suspended on Saturday, around three days after the killing of Punjab Police Assistant Sub Inspector [ASI] Ravinderpal Singh in Amritsar.
It is said that ASI Ravinderpal Singh had resisted the harassment of his daughter allegedly by a ruling Akali Dal leader and his aides. Read more
The Amritsar police have arrested a local Shiromani Akali Dal leader Ranjit Singh Rana in connection with the murder of a Punjab police officer Ravinderpal Singh.
The ASI of Punjab Police, Ravinderpal Singh, opposed his daughter’s harassment by the politician and his associates.

Congress party leader Rahul Gandhi today said at a university in Chandigarh that “Seven out of 10 youth in Punjab have drug problems.”.
Sharing his views with people, Rahul Gandhi said the state government run by the collaboration of Akali Dal and BJP is not offering required opportunities to the youth’s of Punjab.
Rahul Gandhi said, “We send scholarship money for SC, ST (Scheduled Castes/Tribes) categories. It is not utilized here (in Punjab) and is sent back.” Read more
