West Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee comes in support of the Politician Chorus favouring pardon for Bollywood actor Sanjay Dutt convicted and sentenced five years in jail in the 1993 Mumbai blasts case.
Wishing a ‘calm and peaceful life’ for Sanjay Dutt, Banerjee said the actor had already suffered a lot for the blunder he committed earlier, reports said.
Posting on Facebook, Banerjee said, “I have received many requests from civil society and film personalities to see that Sanjay does not suffer more.”
Sanjay’s late actor-turned-politician father Sunil Dutt was a good friend of Banerjee and had he alive, he would definitely made all efforts to to see that Sanjay does not suffer any more, Banerjee said in a statement.
The 53-year-old actor has been convicted by Supreme Court under the Arms Act after being convicted by a TADA court. He will have to spend three-and-a-half years in jail as has already spent 18 months in jail.
