Sanjay Dutt’s fate to be decided today in 1993 Mumbai Blasts

One of the most deadly 1993 Mumbai Serial blasts case, today Supreme Court is going to pronounce its verdict that will decide the fate of Bollywood SuperStar Sanjay Dutt.

Much popular and known as Khalnayak, Sanjay Dutt is facing six year jail term by a TADA court after convicted under Arms Act in 2007. He had spent 16 months in jail after his arrest in 1993

Today, judgment day for Sanjay as SC will be determined the court verdict on appeals filed by him for challenging his conviction and sentence, source said.

Beside illegal possession, the actor was also acquitted of more serious charges of criminal conspiracy under the now defunct TADA Law, it added.

On March 12, 1993, Mumbai was blasted by 13 coordinated explosions which killed around 257 people and more than 700 were injured. After a long investigation, taking charge on total 100 convicts, TADA was awarded death sentence to 12 while 20 others were sentenced to life term. Others were sentenced varying jail terms with fines.

The underworld Don, Dawood Ibrahim, Tiger Memon and his brother Ayub Memon, alleged to be the mastermind of the blasts, and they declared as most wanted accused.

Meanwhile, today is the most important day for Sanjay Dutt, hoped to close the chapter of Mumbai 1993 blasts if the Supreme Court upholds the TADA court’s verdict.
