Pune Serial Blasts 150x150 Serial Blasts rock Pune, 14 States on High AlertWith in 30 minutes, Pune blasted with continuous four low intensity explosions and a bomb on yesterday evening, three out of four rocked at near Dena Bank, Bal Gandharv theatre and a McDonalds outlet on the crowded Jungli Maharaj Road commercial hub.

Last explosion was from the Garware Chowk as per report and fifth bomb which was plotted very close to a McDonalds outlet of Pune, was found and defused suddenly.

High alert in the 14 states including Uttar Pradesh, Delhi and Maharashtra has been declared by the government.

Reportedly, recently appointed as home minister, Sushil Kumar Shinde was to visit Pune’s Bal Gandharv theatre to give away the Tilak Puraskar to Baba Amte’s sons Prakash and Vikas Amte at the same location where one blast was plotted, on the same blast evening. But he at last minute cancelled his visit.

While no one has been reported to be died, except one person, identified as Dayanand Patil, carrying the explosives in the bag at Bal Gandharva Rangmandir was injured and admitted to hospital.

Dismissing to rule it as a terror attack, Pune Police commissioner Gulabrao Pol said, “It is not terror, it is some mischief. It is low intensity blast and took place at three spot.”

But Union home secretary RK Singh ruled terrorist angle and said the blasts have been go ahead in a very “well-planned manner”.

Source said, the explosives materials were kept by Patil in a cake box with sticky material, wires connected with watches and detonators and a pencil cell.

Moreover, the National Investigation Agency (NIA) and the National Security Guards (NSG) have been rushed to city.

The blasts refresh the dreadful memories of the 2010 German Bakery blast that killed 17 persons, including three youngsters from Calcutta. Even agencies figured out that blasts may be carried by Indian Mujahideen (IM) operatives.
