Fresh avalanche warning in Kashmir Valley; Uri, Gulmarg
According to latest news, officials on Sunday issued fresh avalanche warning for the higher and more danger reaches of the Kashmir Valley and informed them to move to the safe locations.
Talking to media, , head of disaster management in the valley, Aamir Ali said, “Medium danger avalanche warning is issued for people living in Keran, Tangdhar, Machil, Chowkibal, Gurez, Bannihal, Uri and Gulmarg areas.” Read more
Govt orders flood alert in Kashmir
As the water level in all the major rivers and streams of the Kashmir Valley continued to rise after incessant rain in the last four days, the authorities Monday sounded a flood alarm and set up flood control rooms at all district headquarters.
“The flood alarm was sounded in Srinagar city as the water gauge at the Ram Munshi Bagh crossed 16 feet. People living in temporary sheds along River Jhelum have been asked to shift to safer locations,” a statement issued by the provincial headquarters said here this morning. Read more

A crore of rupees was a distant dream for Manoj Kumar Raina, who was uprooted from the Kashmir Valley when militancy broke out in 1989. But the dream has turned into reality with his participation in game show “Kaun Banega Crorepati 6″ (KBC-6), and now the Indian Railways employee wants to rebuild his house in his scenic hometown of Chowgam.
