Cloudbursts in Uttarakhand: 33 dead, 35 missing

According to latest reports, series of cloudbursts were reported in Uttarakhand since last night resulting landslides and flash flood in the region. Reports have said that around 33 people were killed, 35 went missing and several were injured in many parts of the state.

The highly hit area with the flash flood was Ukhimath are in Rudraprayag district as the cloudburst flattened dozens of homes in as many as eight villages and 29 people were killed. Around 35 people went missing and 15 were injured and admitted to the nearby hospitals.

Govt orders flood alert in Kashmir

As the water level in all the major rivers and streams of the Kashmir Valley continued to rise after incessant rain in the last four days, the authorities Monday sounded a flood alarm and set up flood control rooms at all district headquarters.

“The flood alarm was sounded in Srinagar city as the water gauge at the Ram Munshi Bagh crossed 16 feet. People living in temporary sheds along River Jhelum have been asked to shift to safer locations,” a statement issued by the provincial headquarters said here this morning.

Live: 16 dead, 38 injured in Vietnam floods

Heavy rains and floods have left at least 16 people as dead while injuring 38 others in Vietnam’s northern and central provinces, said the country’s National Committee for Search and Rescue Sunday.

Floods have submerged over 3,500 houses and over 22,000 hectares of crops and fruit trees, mainly in the two provinces of Ha Tinh and Nghe An, Xinhua reported.

According to the Central Hydro-meteorological Forecasting Centre, floods on rivers from Thanh Hoa to Nghe An provinces and in low-lying areas have reduced but high risk still remains.

Heavy rain lashes Rajasthan, 14 people killed

According to latest reports from Rajasthan, heavy rains continued to create panic in the state, as the normal life has been disturbed after yesterday’s heavy rain.

It is said in reports that around 14 people have been so far killed in Jaipur city and the state government had ordered to shut the school for the second day in a row on Wednesday.

As per official report, around 85 Maoist under covered of flood-affected districts of Bihar where network coverage is very weak,
Satellite phones will be installed for making best communications at emergency time.

Wider coverage is possible through satellite phone as it sends signals to the nearest orbiting satellite.
